I Felt the Pain Within The Words: A Poem

,

I Felt the Pain Withing Her Words- by Martinlt, 1989

I felt the pain within the words

They touched something

Long dormant

I saw her

She wasn’t there

She rode beside me

Though miles away

She told me

she couldn’t.

Later she stood in the yard

I watched, from upstairs

Her white dress, barefoot

With half smile,

Then a smile

Then, not there

I felt the pain within the words

(Sunflower, with bee approaching, Kentucky)
